After protest at Twitter HQ announced, account of @PhillipAdams64 – restored but @classconscious1 – remains suspended
On Sunday June 30th, the Twitter account of @PhiliipAdams64 which had been suspended since June 18th without reason or warning was reinstated. The account is used by Phillip Adams to promote the now 156,000-strong, change.org petition demanding freedom for Julian (that he manages). Phillip Adams received a message from Twitter stating his account had been labelled as “spam” by mistake. The reinstatement came only hours after Davey Heller tweeted a classconscious.org article announcing that the Bay Action Committee to Free Julian Assange is planning to protest outside Twitter HQ on July 8th at 4PM in San Francisco.
Unfortunately Twitter has not backed down on its suspension of classconscious.org’s account @classconscious1 that was also suspended without warning on June 18th. The suspension of the classconscious.org Twitter account came hours after it had tweeted out numerous tweets linking to its article covering the global solidarity protests occurring between the 12th and 14th June – called out by classconscious.org to coincide with Assange’s most recent extradition hearing in London. Classconscious.org after appealing their suspension, was informed they had repeatedly broken Twitter’s rules but were not told which rules were broken and no specific tweets were referenced. This is a complete abrogation of due process. Phillip Adams, until he was restored to Twitter did not receive any communication from Twitter justifying his suspensions.
Each day brings another example of Twitter censorship of pro-Assange accounts
Therefore we call on all supporters of Julian Asange and Free Speech to continue to spread word of the July 8th protest to demand the reinstatement of the @classconscious1 account and for Twitter to end the escalation of its censorship of pro-Assange accounts.
